        • English has 26 letters. Out of these, 5 are vowel sounds and the rest 21 are consonant sounds.
        • The five vowels are a, e, i, o, and u. Vowels are produced when air is exhaled from the mouth freely.
        • The word consonant can be used ambiguously for both speech sounds and the letters of the alphabet with which they are written.
        • In English, these letters are B, C, D, F, G, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, S, T, V, X, Z, H, R, W and Y.
